Botania is an add-on inspired by the Java mod, it brings magical botanical resources to Minecraft that make the player’s life easier. Find out more about Botania below:
-= Getting Started =-
Initially, when the player starts the world for the first time he will receive a guide book called Lexica Botania.
By interacting with the book, you will access a page with quick tips for the mod, organized into categories:
Along with this item, the player will also receive an item called Trinket’s Inventory, which can be used to store the artifacts that the player will use. Each trinket can only be stored in one slot, the available slots are:
– Head
– Necklace
– Hand
– Belt
– Feet
-= Basics and Mechanics =-
To start, we have the Mystical Flowers, which are flowers that can be obtained by using a Floral Fertilizer on grass. These flowers are used to create petals, which are used in important recipes.
- Petal Apothecary
The Petal Apothecary is a block that when filled with water can be used to create a wheat seed + special items to create flowers.
- Pure Daisy
A miscellaneous flower used to transform logs of wood into livingwood and stones into livingrock. There are other recipes as well, see Lexica Botania for more recipes.
- Runic Altar
A magical altar used to create runes or special items, it requires the use of mana for its recipes.
- Terrasteel
Terrasteel is an item crafted from the Terrestrial Gathering Pallet, and requires a small ritual to create it, along with Sparks and some mana items. See the Lexica Botania for recipe information. Here is a demonstration image of the ritual, done with Lapis Lazuli Block and Livingrock:
- Wand of the Forest
-= Mana Manipulation =-
Mana is a mystical energy, invisible to the senses, with its color shifting based on the surroundings. Generating Flora create Mana, which is transported via Mana Spreaders and stored in Mana Pools. Mana powers Functional Flora and various magical devices.
- Mana Pool
Mana Pool is a mana basin that can store up to 1M Mana inside it. Due to its liquid state, mana is an extremely volatile material that evaporates quickly, resulting in extremely low mana loss, so don’t worry about it. There are other types of mana pools such as the Creative Mana Pool which is infinite and can only be obtained in creative mode and the Diluted Mana Pool which is just a shiny variation of the Mana Pool.
- Mana Spreader
The Mana Spreader is a block that launches pulses of mana to other blocks. You can set the direction of the pulse with a Wand of the Forest. Each pulse transports a considerable amount of mana, which reaches up to 12 blocks away, after which the mana evaporates.
Mana pulses have a base time of 1 second to reach the desired block, this is set by default.
- Pulse Mana Spreader
It works similarly to the conventional Mana Spreader, but instead of the mana pulses being emitted randomly, they are emitted with each redstone pulse. A pulse can only be released if the previous one has already reached its target, or evaporated.
- Elven Mana Spreaders
When it comes right down to it, Dreamwood simply conducts Mana better than Livingwood. A few adjustments in the recipe yield an Elven Mana Spreader, which conducts more Mana, faster, and for longer without Mana loss. Unfortunately, these can’t be turned into Pulse Mana Spreaders. Combining this already-powerful spreader with a Gaia Spirit and a Dragonstone gem yields an even more potent variant. The Gaia Mana Spreader is the gold standard of Mana Spreaders, with upgrades pretty much all around. Do note that these spreaders fire larger payloads at once (and thus might fire less often).
- Mana Tablet
Mana Tablet is an item that stores Mana inside it, allowing the player to use Mana without the need for a Mana Pool nearby. Its capacity is half the capacity of the Mana Pool. A good example of this is trinkets and mystical items, where the vast majority use Mana, but we will see more about that later.
- Manastar
A miscellaneous flower that when placed next to a Mana Pool informs whether there is a gain or loss of mana in it, emitting blue particles for gain and red for loss.
- Sparks
Sparks allow instant Mana transfer between pools and specific blocks.
– Must be placed on Mana Pools or other Mana-receiving blocks.
– Connected Sparks share Mana between them.
– Right-click with a Wand of the Forest to view connections.
– Can be dyed to prevent unwanted interactions.
- Mana Lenses
Bore Lens – Destroys the block the lightning strikes.
Damaging Lens – Applies 5 damage to entities the beam passes through, consuming a little mana for each point of damage.
Efficiency Lens – There is no mana loss during the mana pulse.
Entropic Lens – When the pulse hits a block, it causes an explosion.
Flash Lens – When hitting a block, places a light block and casts another ray. The light block is then removed.
Force Lens – Pushes blocks in the direction the ray hits, like a “magic piston.”
Influence Lens – Pushes entities that pass through the mana pulse.
Kindle Lens – Sets the block the pulse hits on fire.
Messenger Lens – The pulse goes much further and faster, but loses a lot of mana in the process.
Potency Lens – Doubles the amount of mana a burst will transfer, but reduces its speed.
Redirective Lens – Redirects the spreader toward the block that emitted the mana pulse to it.
Resistance Lens – Prevents mana loss, but drastically reduces the pulse speed.
Storm Lens – Creative-only. Causes a huge explosion when the burst hits a block.
Tripwire Lens – The mana pulse is only cast if a player is in the direction the spreader is pointing.
Velocity Lens – Increases the speed of the mana burst.
Weight Lens – Increases the gravity of the block the pulse hits, making it fall like sand.
- Mana Detector
It is a block that when hit by any mana pulse, emits a repeater pulse. Great for redstone systems!
- Mana Void
It is a block that when hit by any mana pulse, the mana is consumed. Great for when you want to use a specific amount of mana.
-= Generating Flora =-
Generating Flora are flowers that generate mana, and can be made at the Petal Apothecary. These flowers look for a nearby mana spreader within a 3.5 block radius. If you don’t want this to happen, use the Wand of The Forest in Definition mode to define the spreader that it will send the mana to. Each flower has its own storage, so it will only generate mana when the amount of mana to be generated fits in its storage.
- Endoflame – Consumes fuel like Coal to generate Mana. Does not burn items with by products (e.g., Lava Buckets) and has a fuel cap to prevent inefficiencies. Ideal for automation using an Open Crate.
- Entropinnyum – Absorbs TNT explosions to generate Mana, nullifying damage. Must be empty before absorbing another explosion. Works best with ethically sourced TNT to maintain efficiency.
- Gourmaryllis – Consumes food for Mana production, favoring nutritious items. Prefers variety in diet; repeated foods yield diminishing returns. Mana output scales with food value (e.g., Steak > Apples).
- Hydroangeas – Absorbs still water in a 3×3 area for Mana. Functions slightly faster in rain but has a 3-day decay period. Not viable for long-term Mana generation.
- Kekimurus – Consumes Cake to produce Mana. A deliciously efficient way to sustain Mana generation.
- Munchdew – Eats nearby Leaves for high Mana output. Drops no saplings but requires a cooldown period before consuming again.
- Narslimmus – Absorbs Slimes from Slime Chunks, converting them into Mana. The larger the Slime, the greater the Mana yield.
- Rafflowsia – Consumes nearby man-made flowers to generate Mana. Yields diminishing returns for repeated flowers but rewards variety.
- Rosa Arcana – Consumes Experience to produce Mana. When this flower is planted, toss a coin…
- Shulk Me Not – Harnesses the force of Levitation to create Mana when a Shulker’s projectile strikes a nearby monster, eliminating both. Loot and experience are lost in the process. Entities must be within the flower’s range.
- Spectrolus – Loves Wool, but only in a precise color order. Starting from White, it cycles through the spectrum, producing Mana only when fed the correct color. Tossing Wool randomly is wasteful. Taste the Rainbow.
- Thermalily – Consumes Lava to produce Mana. Semi-automatable, but not without its challenges…
-= Functional Flora =-
Functional Flora are flowers that rely on mana to bring resources into the world. They look for a nearby Mana Pool, but you can set the Mana Pool using a Wand of The Forest in definition mode. These flowers are great for redstone factories.
- Agricarnation – Converts Mana into natural fertilizer, accelerating nearby crop growth.
- Bellethorn – A malevolent flower that uses Mana to harm nearby living beings (except players).
- Clayconia – Turns nearby Sand into Clay using Mana. Simple and efficient.
- Daffomill – Uses Mana to push items in front of it like a fan.
- Dreadthorn – A variant of the Bellethorn that only targets adult animals.
- Fallen Kanade – Emits a healing aura, using Mana to regenerate players and tamed pets nearby.
- Hopperhock – Picks up nearby items and places them into adjacent inventories.
- Hyacidus – Poisons nearby mobs, bringing them close to death for an easy finish.
- Jaded Amaranthus – Automatically grows Mystical Flowers when supplied with Mana.
- Jiyuulia – Prevents animals and monsters from entering a circular area.
- Marimorphosis – Transforms nearby Stone into Metamorphic Stone types based on biome.
- Medumone – Halts nearby non-player creatures with a powerful Mana-based slow.
- Orechid – Converts nearby Stone into random ores using Mana.
- Orechid Ignem – Like the Orechid, but for Nether ores. Works only in the Nether.
- Rannuncarpus – Places nearby placeable items on top of specific block types.
- Solegnolia – Disables Ring of Magnetization effects within its range.
- Tangleberrie – Prevents animals and monsters from leaving a circular ward area.
- Tigerseye – Scares Creepers, preventing them from exploding and making them flee.
- Vinculotus – Forces teleporting Endermen to its location using Mana.
-= Natural Apparatus =-
- Hovering Hourglass – A precise sand-based timer that hovers and flips by itself. Add up to 1 stack of Sand, Red Sand, or Soul Sand to set the delay. Emits a Repeater Pulse when empty, then flips and restarts. Can be locked with a Wand of the Forest.
- Open Crate – A simple crate that drops items straight down. Perfect for precise automation. Accepts items from Hoppers. When powered by Redstone, dropped items take longer to be picked up by flowers like Hopperhock or Rannuncarpus.
- Alchemising with Mana – Attach an Alchemy Catalyst to a Mana Pool to enable transmutation. Toss items into the pool to convert them using Mana! (Consult the Lexica Botania to find out which items can be transmuted).
- Animated Torch – A magical Redstone Torch that hovers and rotates. It points horizontally and rotates on right-click. Has 3 modes: Toggle (180°), Rotate (90°), and Random. Switch modes with a Wand of the Forest.
- Botanical Brewery – Brew powerful multi-effect potions (Brews) using Mana, a Brewery, and Vials. Add ingredients, power it with Mana Bursts, and collect your drinks.
- Conjuring with Mana – Use a Conjuration Catalyst below a Mana Pool to duplicate basic resources. Toss an item in, and Mana will replicate it. Mana-made magic! (Consult the Lexica Botania to find out which items can be transmuted).
- Livingwood Avatar – A humanoid construct powered by a Mana Diamond and a magical Rod. It casts spells automatically when supplied with Mana.
- Teru Teru Bozu – A cute amulet that reduces rain and snow duration. Right-click or toss in a Sunflower during bad weather to bring out the sun. Emits Repeater signals when storms are active.
-= Mystical Items =-
Mystical Items are tools that use mana for their use, they are capable of rebuilding your journey with their use. Get to know all these items:
- Floral Obedience Stick – A piece of Manasteel attached to Livingwood Twigs that strangely commands flowers. Using it on a Mana Spreader or Mana Pool binds all nearby Generating or Functional flowers to it. Can also be used with a Dispenser. Holding this while placing a flower prevents auto-binding.
- Manasteel Equipment – Tools and Armor with high enchantability and durability, similar to Iron. Repaired using Mana. The Pickaxe places torches, the Axe plants saplings, and the Shears can trigger tripwires.
- Terrasteel Armor – Stronger version of Manasteel Armor with durability comparable to Netherite. Repairs itself using Mana.
- Crystal Bow – Crafted with Dragonstone, this bow generates arrows from Mana like Infinity, and shoots harder than a wooden bow.
- Elementium Equipment – Elementium Armor may summon Pixies when taking damage. Tools have unique effects: the Pickaxe voids common blocks, the Shovel clears falling blocks, the Axe decapitates mobs, and the Sword boosts Pixie summoning.
- Equestrian Virus – A mysterious virus that mutates horses into Zombie or Skeleton Horses with enhanced abilities.
- Extrapolated Bucket – An Elementium bucket that causes liquids to disappear upon placement. Ideal for cleanup.
- Horn of the Wild – Blows to uproot vegetation and instantly harvest crops. Can be tuned to target Leaves or Snow.
- Livingwood Bow – A Mana-repairable bow made from Livingwood. More durable than a regular Bow.
- Mana Blaster – A portable Mana Spreader that fires Mana Bursts using 3/4 of a normal Spreader’s Mana.

- Pasture Seeds – Converts Dirt into various grass-like blocks, such as Golden Grass, Vivid Grass, and more.
- Rod of the Bifrost – Summons a rainbow bridge for 30 seconds. Can be used by a Livingwood Avatar to create bridges automatically.
- Rod of the Depths – Similar to the Rod of the Lands but places Cobblestone instead.
- Rod of the Hells – Creates a 5-block-wide ring of fire that burns all inside, including the caster.
- Rod of the Highlands – Like the Rod of the Lands, but allows Dirt to be placed in midair.
- Rod of the Lands – Places Dirt blocks using Mana.
- Rod of the Unstable Reservoir – Fires Divine Missiles.
- Rod of the Molten Core – Instantly smelts blocks when right-clicked, like turning Cobblestone into Stone.
- Rod of the Plentiful Mantle – Highlights ores through walls for a short time.

- Rod of the Terra Firma – Flattens terrain to match the player’s current elevation using Mana.
-= Trinkets =-
Like mystical items, these trinkets also require mana to function. In order to use these items and have their abilities applied to the player, you must equip them in the Trinket’s Inventory, where you can equip one item from each slot. The trinket’s slot is specified below its in-game name.
- Benevolent Goddess Charm – A Charm-slot Trinket that uses Mana to prevent explosions from damaging nearby blocks.
- Charm of the Diva – Causes mobs that attack the wearer to turn against other nearby hostile mobs. Powered by Mana.

- Third Eye – Causes nearby mobs to glow and display a “!” through walls. Consumes Mana when worn in the Body slot.
-= Alfhomancy =-
Alfhomancy are rare items/mobs/blocks added by Botania. Beta: Each player can only have 1 artifact, if another player takes your artifact they will take damage and die. If while using your artifact, you die and lose it, you will not be able to obtain it again, so it is not a good idea to walk around with it.
- Portal to Alfheim – The Alfheim portal is a connection between the overworld and the elven world, where the only way to interact between these worlds is through the exchange of items, you send an item to them, and they give you something in return. To build the portal you can access a hologram available in Lexica Botania, where you will need the blocks: Livingwood (any type), Glimmering Livingwood (any type) and an Elven Getaway Core. You will also need 2 Natura Pylons with mana pools with mana below them near the Elven Getaway Core to activate the portal. (The exchanges available for this portal can be found in Lexica Botania as well).
With the structure assembled, you can interact with the Elven Getaway Core holding a Wand of The Forest to activate the portal. If it does not activate, check if there is mana in the 2 Mana Pools (a generous amount) and if they are within the radius informed above.
Portal activated:
- Key of the King’s Law – Summon glowing magical projectiles from thin air! Hold right-click to charge up to 20 projectiles, then release to fire them. Explosive, powerful, and majestic! (In this version it can only be obtained in creative mode).
- Eye of the Flügel – Sneak-right click to bind it to a position. Hold right-click to consume Mana and teleport back to that location. Cannot teleport across dimensions. (In this version it can only be obtained in creative mode).
- Ritual of Gaia – Summon the powerful Guardian of Gaia using a Beacon, Gaia Pylons, and a Terrasteel Ingot. A tough boss fight that drops Spirits of Gaia used for high-tier crafting. Be prepared! (Mana is not required to activate the ritual).
You can access the hologram of the ritual structure through Lexica Botania:
The ritual cannot be activated in tight or obstructed places. A warning will be sent if you try to perform the ritual in any of these situations.
A Guardian of Gaia cannot be summoned near another, players who enter the arena after activation will also be included in the battle and will not be able to leave the arena.
Known bugs:
- If the player leaves the world during battle, the battle will reset.
- Battle music may not play for all players in arena.
Good battle!
- Ritual of Gaia II – A harder version of the Gaia Ritual. Sacrifice a Gaia Ingot to summon a deadlier Guardian with improved loot, more Spirits, and rare treasures. Harder, faster, stronger… and purple!
love the addon i know its only in alpha state but do you plan on adding more bosses or will it just be the one boss ?
